The Coal Seam Conservation Park is situated slightly north east of Mingenew on the Irwin River in Western Australia. You take the Mingenew/Morawa road from Mingenew & turn left onto the Coal Seam Road to the Park. There is an established picnic area on the right as you cross the river which has gas BBQ's & Toilets. The camping areas are down a road (short distance) on the right before you cross the river (one toilet & gas BBQ's) or at the top of the breakaways after you cross the river (no toilets). The seam of coal can be seen on the escarpment cliff face just down from the picnic area. The area is also famous for its fossils. We visited the park in August 2002.
